Moving to a new country in 2026
In January 2026, I moved to Australia to accept my new residency status, and basically change trajectory of life. I quit my job in mid Jan, and I must admit it was the first time leaving a company and still feel connected with the people I worked with. But is it real? I don't know how long this feeling will last.
I've been moving cities for my entire 20s, and I actually hate moving.I don't have much stuff with me, and I threw away lots of stuff when apartment leases ended. Memories of those physical items fade away as soon as the plane departed. For the past 2 years I lived at my parents' place, and my room was filled with my stuff from primary and middle school. I don't know what to do with them, so I closed the drawers and left them right where they belonged.
After one week of apartment hunting while staying at an airbnb, buying furniture, assembling furniture, buying necessities and so on. The new job started the second week. Suddenly I appeared at a small office somewhere on the other side of the world, juggling with names of districts and streets that mean nothing to me...yet.
I commute to work by train, which is a similar but different concept than the metro system I'm so used to in my home city. I get off and walk through an entire boutique heritage shopping center, and head on to a wide walking bridge that crosses the gorgeous harbor. What a sight on my way to work! Anyways things still feel a little bit unreal for now. But hey I'm getting paid!
