Spring / Summer in September?!
Exercising
- running consistently for 3-4 times a week, and focusing on lowering the heart rate. Did a 10k run along the harbors of Sydney and enjoyed the atmosphere (aka more people running than walking on the streets on a Sunday morning)
- I went to see the 2026 Sydney Marathon on 30 Aug. Found a spot to see runners at both 15k and 30k, and saw the first group of (around 2-hr finish time) elite athletes. Very inspiring and made me want to try a full marathon myself. I think I'll do the ballot and see if I can do it next year? A whole year of serious training awaits...
Reading
- I am listening to The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson, the 3rd book in the Mistborn series. I agree with other comments that the first book was the best out of the three. I wanted to see how the story would end because so far everything seems falling apart in the story, or so it was called the dawn before the storm in a writing structure... The main characters do not evolve anymore in book 3, though the side characters have some developments. Can't wait to finish and call it an end.
- 读了一篇网文《荒腔走板》，可以说是2026年目前最喜欢的网文！很久没有看到不怎么套路的人物设定了，这一本的女主角是团队领导者以及六边形战士（一般小说会把这些安排给男主角），然后男主角是“背叛者”身份这一点我也很喜欢。感觉是精心设计过的小说。
- 阅读略萨的《酒吧长谈》到 25% 然后决定DNF，虽然很喜欢写作的结构，但内容有点无感。
- Started reading There are Rivers in the Sky and really enjoyed the writing so far.
Knitting
- Started a new project, another short sleeve: the famous Ranunculus. I am using Knitting for Olive's Cotton Merino, and it is quite thin yarn, so the gauge is totally different from the pattern. However, I learned how to calculate, customize and plan based on any yarn and specific body measurements. So far it is working quite well. I finished the yoke pattern and am working on the body now.
Watching
- Dark Matter Season 2 is out, and I watched the first two episodes. I really liked the original book and season 1 TV adaptation, and Blake Crouch as a SCI-FI writer. However, season 2 is beyond what was in the book, so it would be brand new plot.
- Mini documentary of Chinese trail runner Yao Miao 姚妙 by Salomon ❤❤
- Movie Interview with the Vampire
- Korean reality show The Community Season 2 is out and I watched 2 episodes. Also did the test provided by the show, turns out to be an idealist (as expected)... An inspiring and complicated show just like season 1.
